Abstract

Bay leaf and red ginger rhizome has been assessed to have activity antihiperurisemia. Judging from these properties, the two plants can be combined for therapeutic antihyperuricemia. This study aims to determine the activity of the combination of extracts antihyperuricemia bay leaf and red ginger rhizome in lowering uric acid levels in male rats hyperuricemia. This study use 35 mice divide into 7 group. Each of the group consists of 5 mice. Group I : negative control (CMC 0,5%); group II : positive control (Allopurinol) 18 mg/kg bw; group III : extract bay leaves (EDS) 3 g/kg bw; group IV : extract red ginger rhizome (EJM) 0,3 g/kg bw; group V, VI, VII given combination of ethanol extract of bay leaf and red ginger rhizome in ratio 5% : 25%; 50% : 50% and 25% : 75%. Test animals in all groups induced potassium oksonat and chicken liver juice for 18 days. Administer the test preparation begins on the day 10th until 18th, all groups were given the test preparation except negative control. Blood taking is done as much as 5 times that is on day 0 (T0), day 9 (T1), day 14 (T2), day 16 (T3), day 18 (T4). The results showed that extracts of single and combination have antihyperuricemia activity. The combination of extracts of leaf and red ginger rhizome have antihyperuricemia activity that is equivalent to a single extract. antihyperuricemia percentage value of the positive control, EDS, EJM, combined EDS: EJM 75% : 25%; 50% : 50% and 25% : 75% respectively for 19,04%; 15,01%; 13,81%; 17,36%; 14,99% and 7,85%.
