Abstract

(Manihot esculenta Crantz.) leaves containing flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. This research aimsnto determine the activity of n-hexane as antibacterial against the Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, known between the three fraction which resulted in the most active antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, determine the value of Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations and Minimum Killing Concentrations of the most active traction of cassava leaf extract to Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Cassava leaves were extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent, then continued with fractination used n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water solvent. The antibacterial activity used diffusion method concentrated of 50%; 25%; and 12,5%, while dilution method with concentrated of 50%; 25%; 12,5%; 6,25%; 3,12%; 1,56%; 3,12%; 1,56%; 0,78%; 0,39%; 0,19%; and 0,09%. The positive control used cotrimoxazole and negative control used 5% of DMSO. The results showed have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The largest diameter of inhibitory zone was ethyl acetate at concentration of 50% with mean inhibition zone is 19,33 mm. the most active fraction of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 is the ethyl acetate fraction, so it was followed by dilution methode and the result of Minimum Killing Concentration is 12,5%.
