Abstract

Hospital accreditation intend to establish whether the hospital meets standards that have been designed to improve quality of health services. Purpose of this study was to determine suitability of pharmaceutical services and medicine use with accreditation standards and to offer suggestions for strategic improvement in pharmacy installation at Luwuk Regional Public Hospital. Method used in this study was Hanlon method. Data were analyzed descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Data collected using questionnaire to pharmaceutical technical staff and pharmacists, interviews with head of pharmacy installation and observation to support the questionnaire answers. Result of this study showed level of conformity in Pharmaceutical Services and Medicine Use (PSMU) was below 80% which has not reached yet with accreditation standards. Percentage obtained were: 10.4% for organizing, 34.2% for selection and procurement, 54.5% for storage, 27.5% for prescribing and copying, 42.8% for preparation and submission, 59.4% for drug administration and 6.18% for monitoring. Strategic improvement by determining priority on problems using Hanlon method, were: PSMU 7 (Monitoring drug effects), PSMU 1 (Organizing), PSMU 6 (Medicine Administration), PSMU 2 (Selection and Procurement), PSMU 4 (Prescribing and Copying), PSMU 3 (Storage), and PSMU 5 (Preparation and Submission).
