Abstract

Heavy metal pollution in lead (Pb) on fruit, especially jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lamk) which is sold on the roadside which has been contaminated with vehicle fumes. Lead contamination can reduce the quality of fruit consumed and can be harmful to human health. The purpose of the study was to determine the presence of lead in jackfruit fruit which is sold on the roadside of Surakarta Legi Market by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. This study carried out qualitative and quantitative analysis.The analysis was carried out using atomic absorption spectrophotometry which showed positive results because lead cathode lamps yield absorption values.Atomic absorption spectrophotometry method at 217 nm wavelength which was first carried out wet destruction using 65% HNO3 and H2O2 in jackfruit fruit sold at the Legi marketroadside Surakarta. The results showed that the jackfruit was contaminated by lead, the front jackfruit was 0.3955 mg/kg of middle jackfruit at 0.2637 mg/kg of rear jackfruit at 0.3269 mg/kg.Based on these levels, jackfruit fruit samples have exceeded the maximum threshold set according to BPOM / 23/2017 which is equal to 0.20 mg/ kg.
