Abstract

Binahong leaves (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Chemical compounds that have antibacterial activity namely alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins and saponins. The emulgel preparation is a practical dosage form that is easy to use in the treatment of wound healing due to bacterial infections. This study aims to determine the ability of binahong leaf emulgel and ethanolic extract of binahong leaves to heal infection wounds on rabbit backs caused by Staphylococcus aureus in vivo Ethanol extract of iler leaves was made by remaseration method with ethanol 96% solvent. Emulsifiers of binahong binahong leaves and binahong leaf extract are produced from 200 grams of fresh binahong leaves. The physical properties of the gel were tested for physical quality and the stability test of the freeze thaw method. The data obtained were analyzed by two way ANOVA with a significance value of <0.05. Observation of healing time was carried out by observing the diameter of erythema formation using the score and duration of healing days after emulgel administration, characterized by pus loss and erythema. The results showed binahong extract emulgel had better effectiveness in curing infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus with 9.6 days of healing time and had a better stability of emulgel preparations, whereas binahong juice emulgel had an effective cure for infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus in vivo with a long healing period of 12. day.
