Abstract

Naringenin (5,7-dihydroxy-2- (4-hydroxyphenyl) chroman-4-one) is one of the flavone aglycone compounds which has the main activity as an antioxidant and has low water solubility (475 μg / ml in water) and permeability (4% in testing with rabbits). Solid SNEDDS can improve the solubility and permeability of Naringenin. Solid SNEDDS is a modification of liquid SNEDDS which combines the advantages of liquid SNEDDS and solids so that it can produce a more stable preparation and easiness of use because modified into capsule or tablet preparations. The solid SNEDDS formulation was carried out by 22 factorial design method using Design Expert® version 10. The characterization includes emulsification time, percent transmittance, dissolution test, and diffusion test. The optimum solid SNEDDS formula was obtained by Stearin: Kolliphor-EL ratio of 1.0: 4.0 with emulsification time parameter values of 17.6667 seconds, percent transmittance 40.2667%, dissolution AUC 683,941, Q10 dissolution of 100,148%, and diffusion constant 0, 154822. The characteristics of the optimum solid formula SNEDDS show results that meet the requirements. The results of the crystallinity test showed that at a dose of 20mg / g Naringenin in a solid base SNEDDS showed no crystal formation. The solid dissolution rate of SNEDDS formula 1 to 4 shows that Naringenin is well dissolved compared to pure Naringenin with a value of DE60 (dissolution efficiency), respectively 87.81%, 91.33%, 102.07%, 95.77%, and 38 , 37%, the Stearin component has a greater influence on the emulsification time (54.08%) and diffusion test (87.90%) parameters, while the Kolliphor-EL has a greater influence on the parameters of percent transmittance (48.39%) and dissolution test (59.66%) Solid SNEDDS Naringenin.
