Abstract

Pometia pinnata is a plant that can be used as traditional medicine for hypertension in Indonesia. The antihypertension active factor of matroa leaves is flavonoid. This research aims to view reduction of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, mean blood pressure, heart rate and heart muscle cells histopatological of rat by matoa leaves exstracts and fractions. Fourty five rats divided in to five groups. The antihypertension cctivities of matoa leaves extracts is view to the precentage of reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, mean blood pressure and heart rate of the rats with angiotensin induced for 12 days and histopatological test of heart muscle cell condition such as pyknosis, karyorrehexis, and karyolysis. Percentage of decrease in blood pressure caused by matoa leaves exstracts and fractions to systolic and diastolic blood pressure, mean blood pressure and heart rate parameters showed the best value of matoa leaves exstracts with dose 300 mg/kgbw. Fractions of matoa leaves that showed the best value of ethyl acetate fraction with dose 30 mg/0,2 kgbw. Those exstracts and fractions has showed significant differences against negative control group with significance value < 0,05. __________________________________________________________________ Keywords: Antihypertension, Pometia pinnata, Angiotensin II, Heart Histopathopatology
