Abstract

Fennel seeds (Foeniculum vulgere,Mill) is a plant that contains flavonoids, tannins, saponins. Flavonoids are one of the compounds that can serve as an immunomodulator. Immunomodulatory a wide variety of natural and synthetic materials that can restore and improve the immune system. This study aims to determine the immunomodulatory effect of fennel seed extract (Foeniculum vulgare Mill) were given to Balb / c mice exposed to Salmonella typhi. Through parameter total number of leucocytes and lymphocytes number. This penlitian experimental method on the post test only control group. With 5 groups of negative control, positive control, group 3 (dose of 250mg / BB), Group 4 (dose of 500mg / BB), and group 5 (dose of 750mg / BB). Measurement of total leukocytes and lymphocytes using a hematology analyzer. Blood samples were collected via the retro-orbital plexus eyes of mice on the 3rd day. The 14th day and from the 28 The results of the statistical average ANOVA showed that introducing fennel seed extract in mice Balb C could affect the total number of leukocytes and lymphocytes compared with the positive control with the result there are significant different (p <0.005).
