Abstract

Drymoglossum piloselloides [L.] Presl. contains essential oils, plant sterols (triterpene), phenols, flavonoids, tannins, and sugar. Efficacious as anti-inflammatory, antitoxic, laxative sputum, laxatives and stop the bleeding. This study aimed to test the antifungal activity of n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction of ethanolic extract Drymoglossum piloselloides [L.] Presl. by maceration against Candida albicans. Drymoglossum piloselloides [L.] Presl. leaf extract obtained by maceration process using 70% ethanol. Determination of the effectiveness of the n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and the water fraction Drymoglossum piloselloides [L.] Presl. leaf in diffusion conducted by observing the inhibition zone on SGA medium around wells and then measured the inhibitory form region. Data were analyzed with a diameter of inhibitory regions using one-way ANOVA test. Dilution test is determined by looking at the level of turbidity in the test medium dilution method in the form of a series of dilutions of various concentrations of negative control; 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.125%, 1.56%, 0.78%, 0.39%, 0.19%, and a positive control. The results showed n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction of ethanolic extract of Drymoglossum piloselloides [L.] Presl leaf has antifungal activity against Candida albicans fungus. The best activity in n-hexane and ethyl acetate fraction of the methanol extract of dragon leaves at concentrations of 50% with successive inhibition zone 24,33 mm and 25 mm and diffusion method. Minimum inhibitory concentration fraction of n-hexane extract of dragon leaf to kill Candida albicans is a concentration of 1.57% dilution method.
