Abstract

Picung (Pangium edule Reinw) is a lot of benefits plant, especially the seeds, that is for inhibiting the bacteria growth (antiseptic), pests destruction (pesticides), parasites prevention, disinfectants, fish poisons and fish preserves. Picung seeds are contains of saponins chemical compounds, cyanide, tannins, flavonoids and alkaloids. The research purposes were determined the ability of ethanol extract of Picung seed to the Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311. Galenic dosage in the form of ethanol extracts obtained by Picung seed powder with 70% ethanol. Then be tested for antibacterial activity to the Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311 bacteria with dilution method in concentration 50%; 25%; 12,5%; 6,25%; 3,125%; 1,5625%; 0,7812%; 0,3906%; 0,1953%; 0,095%.. The research results were showed that the ethanol extract of the Picung seeds (Pangium edule Reinw) has antibacterial activity to the Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311. It is seen on the Minimum Kill Concentration of ethanol extract of Picung seed (Pangium edule Reinw) to the Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311 is 25%. Chemical compounds extract of Picung seed has antibacterial activity against bacteria Salmonella typhi ATCC 13311 is saponins, tannins, flavonoids and alkaloids.
