Abstract

Kenitu rind, flesh, and seed extract has antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhimurium and Bacillus cereus. The purpose of this study was to test the antibacterial activity of the extracts, the fraction of n-heksan, ethyl acetate, and water from the kenitu bark (Chrysophyllum cainito L.) against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. The extraction of the kenitu bark maceration method with ethanol 70% solvent, and then fractination using different level diluents polarity. The results of the test carried out oil extraction and antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 using the dilution method. The concentration of ethanol extracts and fractions used is 800 mg/ml 400 mg/ml; 200mg/ml; 100mg/ml; 50 mg/ml; 25 mg/ml; 12,5 mg/ml; 6,25 mg/ml; 3,125 mg/ml; 1,5625 mg/ml for determining the value of the MIC (Minimum Inhibitory Concentration) and MBC (Minimum Bactericidal concentration ). The results of this study indicate that the etanolic extract, the fraction of ethyl acetate, and water have activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. The results showed that ethanol extract, ethyl acetate fraction, and water fraction have activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 with MBC consecutive 200mg/ml, 800mg/ml and 100mg/ml. MIC unobservable because extract color that to dark and the turbidity was high. Based on the results of the identification in TLC, the chemical content of the water fraction was saponins, tannins, and flavonoids. .
