Abstract

Phyllanthus urinary L. is pest of rice crop which already widely use because one content of active compound i.e quercetin have activity to increase spatial memory and cognitive function. The aim of the research was to determine effect, dose and histopatology of cortex prefrontalis pyramidal cell in animal test after given ethyl acetate fraction Phyllanthus urinary L. The research was conducted by oral administration of ethyl acetate fraction Phyllanthus urinary L. with variation doses of 50 mg/kg BW, 100 mg/kg BW and 150 mg/kg BW as well as positive control quercetin dose 42 mg/kg BW and negative control Na-CMC 0,5%. After given test solution for 10 days then tested using Y maze on the next day then conducted brain taking in part of prefrontal cortex. The results showed that dose of 100 mg/kg BW was the most effective dose with value of accuracy percentage 67% approaching positive control value as 68% while the other test groups had smaller value as 45.6% for negative control, 57.6% dose of 50 mg/kg BW and 61.4% for dose of 150 mg/kg BW. For calculation result of total cell pyramidal cortex prefrontalis showed dose of 100 mg/kg BW closest to positive control as 273 with total cell in positive control as 283.6 higher if compared to negative control as 114.6 dose 50 mg/kg BW i.e 199.8 and dose 150 mg/kg BW as 261.4.
