Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds capable of removing, cleaning, resist the formation of reactive oxygen and neutralize free radicals in cell and tissues. Jackfruit leaves (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) contained flavonoids, saponins, and tanin. Flavonoid can be used as an antioxidant compound. The presence of flavonoids, the research aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanolic extract, fractions of n-hexane, ethyl acetate fraction, the fraction of the ethanolic extract water jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) Against DPPH radical with IC50 parameters. Jackfruit leaves ethanolic extract obtained by maceration with 70% ethanol, and then it was fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water. Jackfruit leaf extracts and fractions obtained were tested antioxidant activity against DPPH radical. Calculation% reduction based on absorbance values are read by the spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 517 nm, followed by calculation of IC50. Routinely used as a positive control. From the research findings indicate that the initials jackfruit leaves ethanolic extract and fractions of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, water fraction have antioxidant activity with IC50 values respectively, are 19.08 ppm, 47.36 ppm, 17.51 ppm and 36.75 ppm. The fraction which has the highest antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate fraction.
