Abstract

Excoecaria bicolor Hassk is a kind of plant from Euphorbiaceae family which can be planted in the yard as a living fence or medicine plant. The aim of the research is understand the effectivity of fraction n-heksana, eter and water from the etanolic extract of sambang darah leaves as antibacteria to the Shigella dysentariae ATCC 9361. The extract of Sambang Darah leaves uses sokhletasi method with etanol solvent 96% and followed by the fraction with the solvent of n-heksana, eter and water. The method to the antibacteria activity test used in the research is a diffusion method. It is to measure the diameter of barrier zone to the growth of bacteria with the used concentration are 50%, 25% and 12,5%. The most active farction is tested with chemical content in KLT way. Based on the result of the research, the diffusion method of fraction n-heksana has a barrier zone diameter of average 15mm in the 50% concentration, 13mm in the concentration of 25% and 12mm in the concentration of 12,5%. Eter fraction has a barrier zone of 21mm in the concentration of 50%, 18,3mm in the 25% concentration and 17mm in the 12,5% concentration. Water fraction has a barrier zone about 11mm in the concentration of 50%, 9,3mm in the 25% concentration and 8,6mm in the concentration of 12,5%. The most active fraction is tested by chemistry content in KLT way. The result shows that the eter fraction contains flavonofid compound and polifenol.
