Abstract

Employee’s performance keeps becoming an important study in human resource researches due to the variation in research results on various objects (Frayne & Geringer; 2000, Gerhardt et al; 2009, Nugroho; 2006, Dewi; 2012). This study aims at examining the employee’s performance building influenced by proactive character and self management as mediating variables and working length as moderating variable. This study applied quantitative design with survey method through distributing questionnaires to respondents. The research objects were Regional Public Service Board (BLUD) employees and civil servants at Dr. Moewardi Regional Public Hospital of Surakarta. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. The samples included a total of 200 BLUD employees and 200 civil servants. Data were processed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and were later analyzed using AMOS statistical software. The results indicate that self management of BLUD employees and civil servants gives positive effect on employees’ performance, proactive character of BLUD employees and civil servants puts a positive effect on employees’ performance, proactive character of BLUD employees and civil servants contributes positively to self management, self management of BLUD employees and civil servants gives a positive effect and mediates the relationship between proactive character and employee’s performance, working length of BLUD employees gives a positive effect on and moderates the relationship between proactive character and employees’ performance, while self management of civil servants puts a negative effect and weakens the relationship between proactive character and employees’ performance.
