Abstract

Sunblock is a substance which halts the dangerous effect of sun ray, the products of gel which contain sunblock can reduce the risk of skin cancer, including melanoma, rosella flower’s petal (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) known of containing anthocyanin which is very beneficial as antioxidant and sunblock. This research’s purpose to understand the difference of rosella extracts which is made as gel product and its impact on the difference of rosella extract toward the physical quality control of the gel. The making of rosella extract uses the maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent for three days then concentrated, after becoming an extract it must be formulated into 3 different formulations, they are, 10 grams, 15 grams, and 20 grams, those formulations must undergo the physical quality test for one month the adhesiveness, dispersivenss, viscosity, pH. Data which are able to be analysis using Anova one direction statistic next tested using Hoct Test Turkey with 95% level of trust. The result of the test shows that rosella extract can be made as gel product formulations I, formulation II, and formulation III with different concentration because fulfiling the good physical quality test and the formulations III which have the lowest level of dispersiveness, long adhesiveness, and higher viscosity compared with the formulations I and formulations II.
