Abstract

The sausage is one of the processed meat products are now gaining popularity in the community. Many sausage curah marketed suspected of containing hazardous chemicals, especially in the addition of a dye Rhodamine B. The purpose of this study was to analyze the content of Rhodamine B in the sausage curah circulating in Pasar Kliwon Surakarta. The analysis was performed by two methods, namely qualitative analysis with Paper Chromatography method and quantitative analysis method of spectrophotometry. On paper chromatography method used eluent NaCl 2% in 50% alcohol. Samples positive sausage curah containing Rhodamine B conducted further analysis using UV-Visible Spectrophotometer with a wavelength of 544 nm. Based on the experimental results, from 10 samples of sausage curah sample only positive I suspected of containing Rhodamine B. From the results of quantitative analysis using UVVisible Spektrofometer.
