Abstract

Jambolana leaf (Syzygium cumini) contains flavonoid, tannin, saponin,alkaloid. Duwet leaf can be used of constipation, fiver, and can be inhibit the growth of some fungi microorganism. The objective of this research is to find out the activity of macerate, n-heksan, ethyl acetate, and water fractions of duwet leaf (Syzygium cumini) as antifungal agent to Candida albicans ATCC 10231, the primary cause of candidiasis. The Jambolana leaf powder was macerated using ethanol 96%, that was then concentrated, followed with fractionation using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water solvent. The method employed in this research was dilution, method of antifungal test was conducted by dilution method a series of dilutions in various concentrations 184,32 mg/ml; 92,16 mg/ml ppm; 46,08 mg/ml; 23,04 mg/ml; 11,52 mg/ml ; 5,76 mg/ml; 2,88 mg/ml; 1,44 mg/ml; 0,72 mg/ml; 0,36 mg/ml. The result of research showed that water fraction of duwet leaf has the most effective antifungal activity compared with the extract, n-hexane, and ethyl acetate fractions. Water fractionation have Minimum Killing Concentration of 46,08 mg/ml, n-heksan does not have Minimum Killing Concentration, ethyl acetate has Minimum Killing Concentration of 92,16 mg/ml, and extract has Minimum Killing Concentration of 184,32 mg/ml on Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Dased on the result of the identification in TLC, the chemical content of the water fraction was flavonoid, and tanin. Keyword: Duwet leaf, fractionation, antifungi, Candida albicans ATCC 10231
