Abstract

The leaves of avocado (Persea americana, Mill) believed to facilitate urination, urinary tract stone crushers, anti-inflammatory, and others. This study aims to determine the ethanol extract, fraction of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water from the leaves of avocado (Persea americana, Mill) has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, knowing fractions most active in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, and knowing KHM and KBM from the most active fraction against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The method used in this study was the percolation and antibacterial testing with diffusion and dilution test. The concentration used in diffusion were 75%; 50%; and 25%. On dilution to use concentration storied series were 75%; 37.5%; 18.75%; 9.375%; 4.6875%; 2.34375%; 1.171875%; 0.5859375%. The results of the diffusion test with bor plate showed the fraction most effective on the leaves of the avocado is ethyl acetate fraction with a diameter of inhibition respectively 18,16 mm; 20,67 mm; 22,83 mm at a concentration of 75%; 50%; and 25%. On dilution results Minimum Kill Concentration is obtained which is at a concentration of 9.375%. Based on the test results of the activities that have been done, ethyl acetate fraction of avocado leaves more have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 compared to the fraction of n-hexane and water.
