Abstract

Bawang dayak plant are one of the plants that have many benefits because they contain antioxidant compounds. This study aims to determine the effects of bawang dayak bulbs ekstract inhibiting elevated levels of SGOT and SGPT in parasetamol induced rats, and to determine the most effective dose as a hepatorotector. This study used 30 rats divided into 6 groups, each group containing 5 rats. Normal control group, negative control, positive control, group extract 40,5 mg/kgBB, extract 81 mg/kgBB, extract 162 mg/kgBB given treatment for 13 days. Day 14 has gived paracetamol except in normal control. Day-0 and day-15 was determined levels of SGOT and SGPT and taken the liver organ to prepare histology preparations. The data obtained were analyzed by using ANOVA test to determine the dose that gives effect as hepatoprotector. The results showed that the ethanol extract of bawang dayak bulbs which was effective in inhibiting the increase of SGOT and SGPT levels and which is able to inhibit liver cell necrosis of mice in induction of parasetamol is dose 81 mg/kgBB Key words: SGOT, SGPT, paracetamol, bawang dayak bulbs, hepatoprotector.
