Abstract

Hypertension is widely known as cardiovascular disease. In 2025, assumed around 29% world citizens got hypertension. High prevalence of multidrug use combined with age-related alteration of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics makes elderly hypertensive patiens vulnerable to Drug Related Problems (DRPs). This study was conducted to determine Drug Related Problems (DRPs), that occurs in geriatric patient including incorrect drug selection, high dose, and low dose. The method us is cross-sectional method and used retrospective approach. The population of this study is all hypertensive geriatric patients who hospitalized in general hospital of salatiga on 2015. The sample of this study is all hypertensive geriatric patients from January until December 2015 and fulfill the inclusion criteria. The result a total of 95 patients, there were 66 cases in 53 patients who had potential DRPs. The most incidence rate of DRPs is too high dose 36,37%, too low dose 19,69% and incorrect drug selection 43,94%. Based from DRPs evaluation, showed that 55,8% of the patient include in potential DRPs because the significant sign on vital checkup and clinical status patient not found.
